Permanent Residence
A foreigner will qualify for South African permanent residence when:
• A foreigner has been employed in South Africa for a period of 5 years continuously and is in possession of a permanent employment contract.
• A foreigner intends to or has establish a business in South Africa.
• A foreigner is a Refugees in terms of Section 27(c) of the Refugees Act for a period of 5 years and obtained permission from the Standing Committee to apply for South African permanent residence.
• A foreigner that holds a Retired Persons visa.
• A foreigner is a relatives of a South African citizen or Permanent Resident within the first step of kinship (parent or adult child).
• A foreigner has been the spouse of a South African Citizen or a South African Permanent Resident for a continuous period of 5 years.
