Retired persons visa
• A foreigner applying for a Retired person’s visa must proof that he or she has the right to a pension or an irrevocable annuity or retirement account which will give such foreigner a prescribed minimum payment for the rest of his or her life from the country of his or her origin.
• A Retired person’s visa will be issued for a period of 4 years.
• A Retired person’s visa can be extended once in South Africa.
• A person who is in possession of a Retired Persons visa, immediately qualifies to apply for South African Permanent Residence.
Relative’s visa
• A Relative’s visa will be issued to a foreigner who is the a member of the immediate family of a citizen or a permanent resident, provided that such citizen or permanent resident provides proof of the prescribed financial assurance.
• A Relative’s visa will be issued for a maximum period of 2 years.
• A Relative’s visa can be extended in South Africa.
• The holder of a Relative’s visa is not allowed to work.
Medical Treatment
• A medical treatment visa may be issued to a foreigner intending to receive medical treatment in South Africa.
• A medical treatment visa will be issued for a maximum period of 6 months.
• A medical treatment visa cannot be extended.
• The holder of a medical treatment visa cannot change his/her status to another visa in South Africa.
• The holder of a medical treatment visa cannot work.

• A Relative’s visa can be extended in South Africa.
• The holder of a Relative’s visa is not allowed to work.
Medical Treatment
• A medical treatment visa may be issued to a foreigner intending to receive medical treatment in South Africa.
• A medical treatment visa will be issued for a maximum period of 6 months.
• A medical treatment visa cannot be extended.
• The holder of a medical treatment visa cannot change his/her status to another visa in South Africa.
• The holder of a medical treatment visa cannot work.
